A teacher accidentally discharges his firearm during a public safety awareness class as Seaside High School in California. He did not know the gun was loaded as he shot one bullet at the ceiling; student injuries resulted from ricohet and ceiling debris.
The teacher, Dennis Alexander, is also a reserve poice offer for the Sand City police and is a Seaside city councilman. He submitted his resignation to the the school, effective at the end of this school year.
Following the incident, a video has come to light that shows Alexander’s students handling his gun in previous safety classes. The incident is being reviewed to the DA’s office.
