It’s Thanksgiving and We Are Grateful for YOU!

We know practicing gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. It helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships. All of which we need in the fight to keep our loved ones and communities safe. Thank you to our volunteers, board members, partners, legislators and elected office holders who stand with us in the fight to #EndGunViolence. You give us hope.

Don’t forget Giving Tuesday is only six days away! Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 28 and share our message on social media or forward this email to friends! Your gift will help us pass an overdue assault weapons ban in Rhode Island and strengthen our secure storage law. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to mark our tenth anniversary.

TURKEY DAY MESSAGING

At the Thanksgiving table this year we encourage you to “fork over the facts.” Brought to us by our friends at Everytown, we are reminded that no other developed country lives like we do in the US. We don’t have to live this way.

IN THE NEWS

Why we do the work we do…so that our loved ones won’t experience the trauma of gun violence. Thanks to our supporters Jim and Jessie for sharing this article. Former Rhode Islander, physician and advocate Megan Ranney is quoted:

“This study is particularly important because, at this point, we are a nation of survivors,” said Megan Ranney, an emergency physician and dean of the Yale School of Public Health, who was not involved in the research. “You can start to get a grasp for the unbelievable impact of our nation’s gun violence epidemic that goes far beyond the deaths that are talked about so often in the news.”

You Can Help Prevent Gun Violence in Rhode Island

Your gift will ensure we have the resources needed to continue educating the public and our elected officials about the critical need for safer gun laws, while we push to pass bills to help keep our families and communities safer from gun violence.

Please know how grateful we are for your passion and on-going efforts, week after week. We cannot do this lifesaving work without YOU. Collectively we are making a difference.
