20 Non-Suicide Gun Deaths Statewide
In a 2021 vs 2020 comparison of January through August, non-suicide gun deaths almost doubled (see chart below).
Gun injuries across the state have increased even more in this same time frame.
From a statistical standpoint, this is not suprising, given the massive surge in Rhode Island FBI NICS firearm background checks that began in March of 2020.

From 2013-2019 Rhode Island averaged 24,380 per year; 2020 total was 51,369.
